From: Carlisle / Maryport (A596)

®      At the Northside roundabout take the second exit (straight ahead). 

Follow the road over the bridge. 

At the roundabout take the first exit (passing Allerdale House), you will be able to see the church. 

Follow the road round to the right. 

Take the left hand turning onto Duke Street (one-way street). 

At the junction, turn right. 

Follow the one-way system until the parking area on Falcon Place. 

St. Michael’s Church is straight ahead.

 


From: Cockermouth / Penrith (A66)

®      At the traffic lights at the bottom of Ramsey Brow (A66), turn left onto Washington Street. 

At the next set of traffic lights, turn right onto Jane Street (by the Washington Central Hotel).

Go straight on at the mini roundabout. 

Go straight on at the pedestrian crossing. 

At the next set of traffic lights (by the library), turn right onto Vulcan's Lane. 

At the end of Vulcan's Lane, turn left onto William Street (one-way). 

Carry on down the one-way system until the parking area on Falcon Place. 

St. Michael's Church is straight ahead.

 

From: Barrow/Whitehaven (A595)

®      At Lillyhall, take the first exit, signposted A596 (by the Vauxhall Garage). 

This road  will take you into Workington. 

At the mini-roundabout at the bottom of  Guard Street, by Kwik-Fit, follow the right hand turning onto Washington Street. 

At the traffic lights, turn left onto Jane Street (by the Washington Central Hotel).

Go straight on at the mini roundabout. 

Go straight on at the pedestrian crossing. 

At the next set of traffic lights (by the library), turn right onto Vulcan's Lane. 

At the end of Vulcan's Lane, turn left onto William Street (one-way). 

Carry on down the one-way system until the parking area on Falcon Place. 

St. Michael's Church is straight ahead.

 

By Train

Workington Train Station is only a few minutes walk from St. Michael’s. 
When leaving the station, walk towards the Cumberland Hotel straight ahead. 

Once past the hotel, you will need to cross to the other side of the road – there is a pedestrian crossing a short way ahead. 

If using the crossing, you will need to double back and turn into Dean Street. 

Follow Dean Street round the corner and you will see St. Michael’s Parish Rooms,

walk the length of the Parish Rooms and there is an entrance to the churchyard.

 

By Bus

When you leave the bus station, you will be able to see the Public Library on the corner of Oxford Street and Vulcans Lane. 

Walk down Oxford Street, with the library on your left, towards the train station/hospital direction. 

Just before the turning into Falcon Place, there is a furniture shop (Jeff Taylors). 

Turn right into Falcon Place and you should see the church straight ahead.
